Use Plain3D or Velocity Dampened stabilization method, not Default for best results most of the time.For the ZV1 it's around 15.98, other cameras/shooting modes will have different values This is critical, the perfect offset will look terrible without RS correction. For my camera with the built in gyro, the gyro data doesn't shift over the course of the video, so one offset (I put it near the beginning, it could be anywhere in the clip) works great. The auto sync feature in Gyroflow is a tool, not the one way to do things, and although by default it searches for 3 sync points, you don't need to do it that way. This was a big realization for me, the gyro data is just slightly shifted. Set ONE offset point with a value of -61.99.

I'm really hopeful that the team behind Gyroflow can continue tweaking their stabilization algorithms so that it works better, but even so, this is a remarkable effort on their part and I hope that open source software continues to improve the lives of everyone moving forward.įor my specific camera (zv1) here's the workflow I use: Gyroflow doesn't do that, it's as sharp as the input. I've tried all the export settings, messed around in Resolve to see if I'm missing something but the footage is slightly degraded. This one might be specific to one of my cameras (the ZV-1) but when I stabilize footage in Catalyst Browse, the footage comes out ever so soft. It's fast, it has all the options you need, and it doesn't lag and crash. Finally!! I can batch stabilize things!! I put this in bold because I'm that hyped. It's on par with the export speeds of the updated GoPro stabilizer. If a clip took 5 minutes to stabilize/export in Catalyst Browse, in Gyroflow it takes 20 seconds. Getting a good rolling shutter estimation is sometimes tricky as well, but makes a huge difference with the final product.īut aside from the stabilization not being flawless, the upsides of this software are huge. I've found that adding a bit of XY stabilization in your editor after the fact (in Davinci Resolve, I use the Translation method), it makes the footage almost identical from Catalyst Browse in certain shots.Īdditionally, you do need to make sure that you have the correct lens profile created, but that doesn't take that long. I'm still trying to figure out if I'm doing something wrong, but it seems like while this stabilizes things pretty well, it's not the buttery magic of catalyst browse (or Reelsteady for you GoPro people out there).
First off, to my disappointment, the stabilization isn't better than catalyst browse. I did this with my a7iii and my phone by mounting my phone with a cold shoe holder and logging the gyro data with an app. That means that embedded gyro tracks in cameras like the a7siii or the zv1 work without fuss, but also if you strap an external gyro logging device onto an existing camera, you can stabilize pretty much anything. If you have a video file and a gyro file, this software will stabilize it. So imagine my delight when I stumbled across something called Gyroflow which claims to be a "do everything" tool for gyro stabilization. I'm frustrated with Catalyst Browse for my stabilization needs because it takes forever to export and often crashes and glitches and there's no batch exporting.
